Privacy policy

Who we are

This policy describes how Manu Essence (“we”, “us”) handles personal information when you visit the manū shop, create an account, place an order, or write to us. We are a family workshop in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We make private-label candles and car diffusers to order.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the shop and fill orders:

• Account details — name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form). Phone number if you add one.
• Orders — shipping and billing address, items, quantities, scent choices, and notes you send with a custom or wholesale order (including logo artwork).
• Payment — card payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers. Stripe receives the details needed to charge the order.
• Shop session — country or region (for currency and shipping), language if you change it, and cart contents. These live in cookies or similar storage on your device.
• Messages — email you send to us, and any files you attach for custom labels.

We do not run advertising pixels or sell mailing lists. Server logs may record a technical address, browser type, and the pages you request so we can keep the shop working and investigate faults.

How we use it

• Take and fulfil orders, including custom scent mixes and labels.
• Create and maintain your account if you register.
• Show the right currency and shipping options for your region.
• Reply to you about an order, a pack, or artwork you have sent.
• Meet tax, accounting, and other legal duties.
• Protect the shop against fraud and abuse.

We do not use your information for third-party advertising. We will not email you marketing unless you have asked us to, and you can stop that at any time by writing to manuessence.ca@gmail.com.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with people and companies who need it to do work for us:

• Stripe, to process payment.
• Carriers, to deliver your order.
• Hosting and store software providers that run this website and the order system.

They may only use the information to provide that service. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose it if the law requires us to, or to protect our rights in a genuine dispute.

Cookies

The shop uses essential cookies (or similar storage) so your cart, region, and signed-in session survive a refresh. You can block cookies in your browser; the shop may then forget your cart or region until you set them again. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites.

How long we keep it

Account details stay until you ask us to close the account. Order records are kept as long as Canadian tax and business rules require. Emails and artwork for a custom job are kept while we make and support that order, then as long as we still need them for re-orders or a legal record. You can ask us to delete what the law lets us delete.

Your rights

Manu Essence is in Canada. We handle personal information under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where it applies, Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act.

You may ask us to:

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
• Correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
• Withdraw consent where we rely on it.
• Close your account and delete information we are not required to keep.

Write to manuessence.ca@gmail.com. We will respond within the time those laws allow. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or Alberta’s Information and Privacy Commissioner for matters under PIPA.

If you order from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we use your information to perform the contract (your order) and to meet legal duties. You may also have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, and objection under local law. Contact us at the same address; we will treat that request in good faith.

If you order from the United States, we do not sell your personal information. You may write to us for access or deletion of what we hold, subject to the same legal-record limits.

Children

This shop is for adult wholesale and retail customers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy when the shop or the law changes. The date at the top of the page is the current version. Material changes will be posted here.
